Flower Fantasy - Dubai Miracle Gardens

“A garden to walk in and immensity to dream in--what more could he ask? - Victor Hugo

The Dubai Miracle Garden is the world’s largest natural flower garden featuring 50 million flowers and 250 million plants across 780,000 sq foot. Petunias and sunflowers are the most prevalent flower species though there are 120 species of flowers in the garden overall. Consisting of flower sculptures, topiaries, water attractions, the garden is a mix of Disney themes and fairy tales and other stories designed to appeal to a child’s or in my case a grownups imagination.

The gardens are their best from November to February blooming with color. It’s a nice place to spend an afternoon enjoying the beautiful ambiance and relaxing in a hammock or one of the little cabanas.

The Emirates A380 sculpture is the largest flower sculpture in the world and has a Guinness world record to its credit. The floral theme is almost 260 feet long and displays 5 million flowers at the peak of the blooming season.

For a book lover like me this display spoke to me. I let my imagination have free rein as though I was stepping into the pages of some of my favorite childhood fantasies as I walked through the garden. My spin on the floral sculptures is possibly completely different from what the architect might have intended but it’s my spin that I’m sharing with you.

The giant floral clock with houses built around it. For me this was the snow white and the seven dwarfs even though there were Smurfs instead of dwarfs and I guess it’s intended to be a Smurf village.

Definitely stepped through the rabbit hole just in time to join Alice and her friends for a tea party in wonderland.

Sleeping Beauty’s fairy tale castle perhaps it’s the Disney castle. Anyhow the path is strewn with flowers instead of being blocked by thorns.

Luxury accommodations. peacocks were dancing with flower bedecked tails displayed.

Teddy bears, twirling princesses, unicorns, and flowering palm trees in the background.

Wow! Kangaroos have made their way here to roost under the umbrella covered walk way.

A giant butterfly, a cross between a topiary and a flower sculpture.

Bringing in a jungle theme with elephants bathing in a pool lined with flowers and playfully spraying water through their trunks.

A Floating Lady. Not sure what she’s supposed to represent but could be sleeping beauty floating in the air or Snow White in her poisoned sleep or just simply a floating lady…

A genie leaning against the castle ready to grant three wishes. The first of course being this beautiful flower filled oasis in the midst of the desert.

Near another entrance to the garden. Is that a toothbrush holder? ready for a palate cleanser?

As I’m aging and perhaps after the drought of 2020, I find that I have a better appreciation of just being out and about and alive to enjoy the beauty around me.
